This lovely old stone cottage has been charmingly restored and the current owners have taken considerable time and care in choosing the furnishings and fittings, making this a bright and cheerful cottage suitable for holidays at all times of the year.
The house has a south-facing outdoor pool surrounded by decking and sunbeds and a glorious view, a large garden (1 acre) with patio table for outside eating and places to relax or play. Quality wooden garden furniture and parasols are provided.
The house is five bedroom: two king-sized ensuite bathrooms, two twin rooms and one bunk bedroom.
Main bathroom with separate shower, bath, sink and W.C. Separate toilet. Downstairs: kitchen/TV/dining room; sitting room; utility room and a family room.
Located in a tranquil position in the small hamlet of Les Placards (six houses), south facing within well established grounds. The property verges on the Forêt de Vaysse which is home to deer, wild boar and a variety of birds and other wildlife. The property is in the Aveyron which features 10 of the most beautiful villages in France. A short drive away is the UNESCO World Heritage site Conques, the sacred site on the Route of St Jacques de Compostella. Fishing is available on many rivers and tributaries and the thermal spa of Cransac is 2km away.
Watch out for the local deer, eagles and other wildlife. Drive to one of many medieval bastide towns and enjoy excellent restaurants, museums, markets, shops, and the vibrancy of living traditions. The house is ideally situated for fishing in the rivers Lot, Aveyron and Tarn and their many tributaries. Just one mile away is the resort town of Cransac les Thermes where you can enjoy the thermal spa. The list of activities is endless. You can do as much, or as little, as you wish and we are absolutely sure you will not be disappointed.
The house is situated on the Chemin de St Jacques de Compostella (the "pilgrims way" of St James the Great), which runs from France to northern Spain.
Located near the beautiful Lot Valley in the foot hills of the Massif Central, the scenery is spectacular and the area is renowned for walking, horse riding and fishing on the Lot, arrangements for these can be made in the local tourist offices in Cransac and Aubin. Situated 45 minutes drive into the mountains you will find river rapid dinghy rides for the braver holiday maker!
The house can accommodate up to 10 people and is furnished to a very high standard. Couples or smaller groups are welcome to stay at competitive "just for" prices outside of peak season. Please ask.
The local weather is lovely with spring and autumn similar to a British summer. The summer is hotter, 25 - 32 degrees C, but not too humid because it is quite high. The winter is sunny, cold, crisp and clear. Skiing is only 1 hour away.
